Clinical Effects of Neutrogin(rhG-CSF) on Neutropenia Induced by EAP Chemotherapy in Patients with Stomach Cancer

Abstract

|
|
Clinical effects of Neutrogin (rhG-CSF) were investigated in 19 patients receiving chemotherapy for stomach cancer (adenocarcinoma). Each patients was treated with two cycles of EAP chemotherapy. In the first cycle of chemotherapy, patients
received
chemotherapy alone, while in the second cycles rh-G-CSF was given subcutaneous for 14 days at a dose of 2㎍/Kg/day.
rhG-CSF significantly elevated leucocyte and neutrophil counts in peripheral blood. The nadir counts of leukocyte and neutrophil significantly increased in the second cylcle compared with the first cycle however no significant difference of
platelet
counts were observed. The recovery time required for leukocytes to reach more than 4,000/㎣ and for neutrophils to reach more than 2,000/㎣ after the nadir was significantly reduced in the second cycle compared with the first cycle. The time
needed
for
recovery of the leukocyte count to reach 4,000/㎣ or more and of the neutrophil count to reach 2,000/㎣ or more after the start of each chemotherapy cycle was also significantly shorter in the second cycle than first cycle. In the first cycle,
febile
episodes were experienced in ten patients (53%) and in the secon cycle, febrile episodes were experienced in five patients. Elevation of GOT, GPT, ALP (10%), G-I trouble (5%) were observed as side effect of rhG-CSF.
In the over all evaluation, the effectiveness and usefulness of rhG-CSF was 94% and 89% respectively. These result demonstrating that Neutrogin(rhG-CSF) significantly elevated the nadirs of leukocytes and neutrophils, shortened the duration of
neotropenia and recovery time from neutropenia, no significant adverse effects. Neutrogin(rhG-CSF) is effective and useful for the treatment of neutropenia induced by anticancer chemotheapy.㎣㎣
